OUR MISSION

The Capital Health, Dartmouth General Hospital Auxiliary (DGHA), is a not for profit volunteer support service organization whose membership is dedicated to enriching the level of patient care, comfort ,and caring of patients and families at the Dartmouth General Hospital and within the Dartmouth General Hospital community. The Auxiliary provides a resource not available through the government health care system.

VOLUNTEERS IN ACTION

Dartmouth General Hospital Auxiliary members are dedicated individuals who care about our hospital and our community. They contribute their time and talents in a variety of ways and have been raising and contributing funds for the benefit of the Dartmouth General Hospital's patients and families since 1973. To date, the Auxiliary, through various fundraising events organized by its members, has contributed more than 1.75 million dollars to the Dartmouth General Hospital. This is their way of enriching their lives by volunteering their time to serve others in the community. Volunteers volunteer in a variety of quality programs and receive excellent training.

The Auxiliary serves the Hospital in a variety of ways designed to meet specific patient comfort and needs. These include:

THE ORGANIZATION

The Auxiliary has over 160 members who contribute and actively participate in auxiliary projects.. It operates with a working board of eight directors who serve on committees to accomplish the goals of the auxiliary and to oversee its operation.

VOLUNTEER MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to everyone. The Auxiliary can benefit from your participation, your ideas and support. Whatever your talent may be - crafts, gardening, organization, innovative thinking, business acumen, enthusiasm, or just a willingness to help others - we need you! Whether exploring a new career, or giving back to the community, volunteers play an important role in the quality of care provided at the Dartmouth General Hospital.

AUXILIARY'S PAST ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Since 1977, more than $1,202,000 has been contributed to the Dartmouth General Hospital for hospital expansion and the purchase of medical equipment. This includes 2 mammography units, a nurse/patient call system, special mattresses, dental equipment, a chest x-ray machine, an endoscopic suite and much more.
