Q - Where is the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation located?

A - The Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation’s Administrative & Parking Office is currently located in Room 2007 in the Main Lobby (the old Accounting/Business Office) of the Hospital. Parking services will continue to be maintained at this site, as will donation processing and other administrative inquiries. Our mailing address is Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation 325 Pleasant Street, Dartmouth NS B2Y 4G8. 

The rest of our Foundation team moved offsite in December 2017 due to construction and we are now located at the Professional Building at 277 Pleasant Street, Suite 104, Dartmouth NS.

Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For general inquiries, phone 460-4149, for special event inquiries, phone 465-8531 and for the President & CEO, phone 465-8560. 

Q - Do donations to the DGH Foundation remain at the hospital?

A - All funds donated to the Dartmouth General Foundation are used to improve health care within the Dartmouth General.  Each year the Foundation funds equipment and program priorities that is site specific.

Q - Can I, as a donor, specify where I would like my donations to go?

A - There are many areas of need within the hospital and donors have a number of options. In most cases we can facilitate the request of the donor with the need of the hospital. 

Q -How can I make a gift to the hospital?

A - Gifts can be made online, by phone or in person.  When making a memorial or tribute gift, we require the name of the person being remembered/ honoured and the name of their immediate family member.  A card is sent to notify them of your thoughtfulness.   

Q -Do I get a charitable income tax receipt for my gift?

A - The Dartmouth General Hospital Charitable Foundation is a registered charity and all cash gifts of at least $20 are issued a receipt.  For donated goods, you may be eligible for a gift –in –kind receipt.

Q- Do donors have a a donor bill of rights they can refer to when making a donation?

Q- Does the Dartmouth General Hospital Charitable Foundation have a policy surrounding President & CEO Expense Reimbursement?

A-  The Dartmouth General Hospital Charitable Foundation recognizes its fiduciary responsibility to donors and the community whose funds are the sole source of revenue to both support the priority needs of the Dartmouth General Hospital and to run the Foundation’s operations. The Foundation balances the need to contain costs and demonstrate prudence in the conduct of the DGH Foundation activities, and the need for reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred by the President & CEO for Foundation business purposes. A - The Dartmouth General Hospital Charitable Foundation is committed to protecting the privacy of our donors.  We value our donors’ trust and recognize that maintaining this trust requires that we be open and accountable in our treatment of the information that you choose to share with us. We do not sell trade or buy donor lists.
