Barrett’s Esophagus Treatment Performed in Nova Scotia for First Time

Today, at the Dartmouth General Hospital, Dr. Robert Berger performed the first Barrett’s Esophagus treatment in Nova Scotia. For the first time ever, patients in Nova Scotia suffering from Barrett’s Esophagus – a precancerous condition – are able to receive Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) treatment right here in their home province. Previously, patients in Nova Scotia had to travel to Moncton, NB for this important procedure – the only place in Atlantic Canada to offer the treatment until now.

Thank you to the 2024 Annual Lobster Dinner & Auction supporters and the Chassie Family who helped purchase an endoscopic ultrasound and laser used in RFA treatment.
