DGH Auxiliary Donates to Wearables Project

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kenneth and Dorothy Rowe Foundation Donates $1 million to DGH’s NEW CT Scanner Fund as Part of 50th Anniversary Campaign

Dartmouth, NS – October 15, 2025 – The Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation is proud to announce a transformative $1 million gift from long-time friends and supporters Kenneth and Dorothy Rowe. This generous contribution will help bring a new, state-of-the-art CT Scanner to Dartmouth General Hospital, dramatically enhancing diagnostic imaging capacity and timely access to care for patients across the region.

The gift comes at a milestone moment, as DGH prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Mr. Rowe has shared a special connection with the hospital since its opening in 1976, where he signed the original guest book. This latest act of generosity marks a 50-year connection that has touched thousands of patients and families over the years.

The new CT Scanner will support 24/7 access to this vital diagnostic technology, particularly for emergency patients. DGH currently performs more than 20,000 scans annually, among the highest volumes in Nova Scotia. With over 19,000 people currently waiting for CT imaging in the Halifax Regional Municipality, the addition of this advanced scanner will help reduce wait times and improve patient outcomes.

CT imaging is a critical tool in modern medicine. It is used for the detection and diagnosis of cancer and other diseases, therapy and surgical planning, cancer staging, as well as the identification of internal injuries and abnormalities. The new scanner will bring the most modern technology to DGH’s Diagnostic Imaging department, increasing efficiency, precision, and timely access to care.

The Rowe gift sets the stage for Dartmouth General’s upcoming 50th anniversary campaign, launching in Spring 2026. This campaign will further strengthen care and innovation at DGH, ensuring the hospital remains a cornerstone of health care in the region for decades to come.
